The Archives Alcove has received another treasure to display. Olivia Arkabauer has donated her Honorary Life Membership award plaque from Presbyterian Women to the Archives for safekeeping. It is mounted on the stair wall with the previous awards. Check out this gift when you visit the church offices, for this stands as a symbol of Olivia’s dedication to the many facets of church life and her steady support and leadership in Presbyterian Women.
The membership should know also that our Presbyterian Women’s board has financed and supported the additions to the Alcove for the past four years
“Cents-Ability,” or “Two Cents A Meal” or “That Large Loaf of Bread at the Back of the Sanctuary,” on the last Sunday of every month, is a small first step in the battle against hunger and poverty. Congregations invite every member — of all ages — to contribute a few cents at every meal. This simple act is an expression of thanks for what we have received. It is also a commitment to share with others in response to Jesus' command "You give them something to eat." When members bring their offerings to church on the appointed Sunday, all of those coins "make a joyful noise unto the Lord" as they are received and dedicated.
These small acts of faithfulness can add up: One hundred persons in a congregation will contribute $180 a month at two cents a meal. That's $2,160 dollars a year. Please bring your pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters on the last Sunday of every month. A small amount CAN make a difference to people that are hungry!
