Session Snyopsis

Session Synopsis – 8-5-08

The following correspondence was read:
A card from the Morning Glory Prayer Team of the Bethany Assembly
of God, which indicated they are keeping our church in their prayers; a
thank you letter from Region 2 Area on Aging, thanking this congregation
for the gift of $1,000; a letter from the Presbyterian Hunger Program
thanking this congregation for their generous, monthly gifts to the program.
 
The Building Committee was asked for their report and the findings
were presented. A motion was made from the Committee to take their proposal to the congregation, and it carried unanimously
 
It was moved and seconded to petition the Brooklyn Village Council
to unite all our properties into one parcel. It was also moved and seconded
to petition the Village Council and Planning Commission for a variance
for the parking lot 
 
It was moved and seconded to have a congregation meeting on
Sunday, September 14, 2008 for the purpose of approving
the building plans and mortgage
 
CONSENT AGENDA
The baptism of Dylan Paul Boone, son of Brandon & Teresa (Bendele) was approved
Approval to restore to full membership Shelby Wyant (McCave),  who was placed on the inactive roll, 12-4-07. Approval was given to baptize her son, Jered Alan Wyant
It was moved and seconded to not have communion in September
COUNCIL REPORTS

 

MISSION - The following information was reported:  The Nicaraguan delegation will be with us at the end of August and a welcoming dinner

will be held on 8/27 at 6:00pm. The council will do a Moment for Mission, indicating the needs in the pastor’s discretionary fund,  on Sunday,
Aug. 17th.    The Golf Scramble to benefit the Food Pantry will be on
Saturday, Aug. 30th and also the CROP Walk scheduled for Oct. 12th with an organizational meeting to be held on September 9th.

BUSINESS ADMIN. & PERSONNEL - the Session was advised that Becky Turk, Director of Christian Education had submitted her resignation, effective September 10, 2008. It was moved and seconded to receive, with regret, Becky’s resignation. A letter will be sent by the clerk of session to her to express that regret.

CHRISTIAN NURTURE – it was reported that the council is working on a job description for the DCE and also seeking an interim to fill the position temporarily.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned with prayer by Pastor Barnes. The next meeting of Session will be on Tuesday, September 2 with councils beginning at 6:00pm
