Associate Pastor Barnes presented session two of “The Engaging Church” with a time for conversation and discussion following the video presentation
CONSENT AGENDA
Elder Becky Turk and Rev. Barnes traveled to Bay St. Louis, MS to meet with the First Presbyterian Church to coordinate arrangements for the June Mission trip to present a Vacation Bible School program there
Approval was given to Columbia Central High School to hold their Baccalaureate service in this church on Thursday, May 29th at 7:00 p.m.
COUNCIL REPORTS
CHRISTIAN NURTURE - Heidi Sottek wrote a letter of thanks to the council for their special box of “goodies” sent to service people. Missy Shear thanked the council for the scholarship monies to attend camp this summer
FELLOWSHIP - Brenda Fish, Sarah Ackerman, Les Jackson, Dan Ronders, and Ward Wilson have agreed to help plan the celebration event for our church homecoming on September 7, 2008
MEMBERSHIP - the “Service Survey” has been reworked and it will be distributed to the congregation in the bulletin on two Sundays in June
BUILDING & GROUNDS - It was moved and seconded to level and improve the existing church front sign. The Presbyterian Women will pay for this project and Dan Ronders has agreed to do the work
MISSION - 67 pairs of sneakers were provided to children in local schools. “Relay For Life” will host a breakfast here on June 8, 2008. The Mission Council will host and serve at Nurture Night in May. A free will offering will be taken. The Council received a letter from Jackson Interfaith Shelter thanking this church for their gift of $706.50, which represented half of the Easter Offering.
BUILDING COMMITTEE - Elder Rich Vitale reported that the committee was making progress in their meetings. It was moved and seconded to hire F. H. Martin as construction manager for construction services at a cost of $5,500.
The meeting was adjourned with prayer by Rev. Ladd followed by the Lord’s prayer.
The next Session meeting will be on Tuesday, June 3rd at 7:00pm.
